Technical Designer
TKEES is looking for a Technical Designer to manage the product design process for Apparel. As an integral member of our small team you would lead the technical design process for Apparel reporting to the Creative Director. This is an exciting opportunity to be a key player in our team as we improve and expand our product assortment.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- You will be fully responsible for entire product design process to include trend research, mood board creation, designing, sketching, spec'ing and fit
- Research trends & develop mood boards for product drops
- Create technical sketches and develop tech packs
- Responsible for picking seasonal colours and approving lab dips
- Partner with production team on research and innovation of new fabrics and trims
- Lead design fit sessions; responsible for communicating design changes to production team
- Liaison between Material/Sourcing team to manage fabric development, artwork handoff, development charts, and learn about strike-off/lab dip approvals
- Partner cross functionally with Creative and Marketing to ensure strong storytelling and merchandising of product and collection releases
- Partner with Creative to provide direction on styling of campaigns & e-commerce shoots
Qualifications and Skills:
- A keen eye for design and trends and appreciate a clean and minimal aesthetic
- 3+ years of experience designing and developing apparel
- Strong technical knowledge of fit and garment construction
- Interested in fabric development and have an eye for quality
- Strong technical knowledge in Adobe, InDesign, Photoshop
- Able to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multitask
- Preferred if you have previously worked in a high-growth startup or ecommerce company.
